water seeping

this is a thinly disguised rant

Dear World in general,

I do know that the term "third world country" is considered correct in some parts of the world. I do know that I see it being used all the time. But have you ever considered that it is possibly the rudest, most inconsiderate thing you can say about another country? Probably not.  My point is, if you're going to talk about a poor Asian/Middle Eastern/South American/etc country, please call us a "developing nation". That's the term I  was taught and it's a term I've come to appreciate. Maybe in time, other people will consider it too.

Thank you for your time.

You make a good point. *makes mental note to go through and replace mental references wherever appropriate*

Also plz to forgive the post hijacking, but could I possibly prod you onto MSN?
It's what I've been taught really. I'm Asian and well, I've been all over the place. It makes a difference.

Go ahead.
LOL YOU'RE FROM A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY NALALANALA~

Something happened? Met a couple of idiots?

KEEP ME AWAKE. IF I FALL ASLEEP NOW I WON'T MAKE IT TO CLASS.
.........TECHNICALLY SO ARE YOU.

Nah, not idiots. But the term itself bugs me. :/ IT'S NOT A RACE.

ASDADASDLASDADSAKSDASD DON'T SLEEP.
WHAT? I USE THEM INTERCHANGEABLY. AND HUMOROUSLY. I'VE MADE MORE SECOND-WORLD COUNTRY JOKES THAN I CAN REMEMBER.
*COMES FROM ONE OF THEM OBVSLY*

I use them to gain the upper hand. BECAUSE WE THIRD-WORLDERS NEED TO USE WHATEVER RESOURCES WE HAVE TO MANIPULATE THESE ARROGANT ex-COLONIZERS TO DO SHIYAT OUR WAY.

Such as:

"Duuude, I'm from a Third World Country, and the shipping for this thing is the cheapest I can find on eBay. Let me win - you can find this product EVERYWHERE else on eBay USA. D:"

I have yet to use this tactic on 2 bidders on this.

A friend put $42 into my paypal to buy this for my birthday. I'm praying really, really hard that I win because of the shipping. D:
AHAAHAHAHA IN THAT CASE, YOU'RE FORGIVEN.

Just. avoid using the term too much in public.
Actually, I'm quite sure the phrase 'third-world country' has been phased out in Singapore geography textbook. I seem to remember my teacher saying something like that. Guess they finally realized it's not politically correct. :P
That's good then! I wouldn't know, since I went to an international school in Singapore, but my teachers always used the term "developing nation". The term "third world nation" is just...ugly.
It's too early for me to TL;DR about this properly but yes, I concur with you and I've been trying to deprogram myself from using the word.

It's amazing how growing up on American news programs convinces you that the entire world, with the exception of America, Western Europe, and Japan are "civilized and 'safe'" and the rest of the world is some kind of undeveloped ghetto. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhh that's Imperialism right there.
I know. I could tl;dr SO MUCH on this.

Y-Yeah. GUYS REALLY. If we're talking about safe countries, I do not trust myself to live in America ever. YOU HAVE GUNS OKAY.
