"...based on the Japanese film Infernal Affairs"

BAD OSCAR LADY, NO COOKIES FOR YOU.

Though I'm surprised that Nat or Viola didn't notice (maybe you guys missed it?), but for those confused, Infernal Affairs is a well-known CHINESE film.

Not JAPANESE.

I'm sure you could hear the uproar on the internet. Not the smartest thing they've done.

I don't think The Departed should have gotten Best Picture. Sure, I'm happy they gave Martin Scorsese Best Director, but the Departed was definitely not his best work and there were some really good films this year. D:
  • Current Mood: calm calm
  • Current Music: Mika - Grace Kelly
...Oh god and they had to get it mixed up with the Japanese, didn't they? Couldn't've been any of the other yellowskinned Asian races, noooo. Had to be the Japanese.

Yeah, I'm not surprised at the outcry.
OUTRAGE.

SCANDAL.

WE NEED TO UNITE AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

...Yeah, I'm not that surprised either. Just kinda going wtf.
It's a CANTONESE CHINESE film wtf.

And I didn't know since I don't watch the Oscars.
YAAAAAAAAAAY [goes to check]

Did you send the emulator also? 'Cause I don't have that.
She ought to be shot for not doing her homework. I read it in the papers this morning, and I was like, "WTF."

And it's just plain weird that The Departed won best picture. I mean, a lot of the scenes were basically hijacked from the Cantonese original. Like the rooftop scene. So tell me why does he deserve a best picture for a film that isn't really all his? *broods*
It was too amusing to me at any rate because I only realized it when everyone else was complaining.

I agree. Martin Scorsese has done tons of brilliant films, but the Departed was not one of them. :S
