chipperAnyway, I got the next Bleach episodes and I'm in love with Ichigo, Renji and Byakuya (WHAT? I LIKE Byakuya!)
Right, cut to the chase. I said I support Ichigo/Rukia/Renji because it's a threesome that actually works (other than Ryu/Meg/Kyu which is close, but not there). But I'm seriously considering having Renji defect for his captain. Simply because I love their conversations. And the implied. XD
Renji's BANKAI (and zanpaktou) is the personification of a baboon (monkey XDDDDDDDD) and therefore, Renji talks about how he wants to howl at the stars and reach for the lone star (hence the sub goes) and how he trained like a "man possessed" to defeat and surpass Byakuya (yes, big impression was made right there)
IS IT ONE-SIDED? WILL RENJI EVER GET THROUGH A PERSON LIKE BYAKUYA?
THE ANSWER?
HE DID! (well, close enough)
When Byakuya defeated Renji, he said, "There is a story about a monkey who keeps trying to reach the moon. But in reality, all he reaches for is the reflection of the moon in the water. Your fangs will never reach me"
And all the time, he's telling Renji to stop otherwise he will die.
But then Renji gets his ass up and finally injured Byakuya and Byakuya says, "Congratulations. Your fangs reached me."
And he walks away, leaving Renji ALIVE.
Oh, and musn't forget that lovely conversation they had AFTER THE WHOLE BATTLE/CRISIS SITUATION
Byakuya: You wanted me dead, didn't you? Sorry to disappoint (and no, he wasn't being sarcastic)
Renji: I never wanted you to die. I just wanted to be better.
(dramatic PAUSE)
Renji: Taichou I--
AND ICHIGO AND ORIHIME HAD TO INTERRUPT.
AND OBVIOUSLY RENJI GOT PISSED
Renji: YOU STUPID IDIOT, I WAS ABOUT TO SAY A GREAT LINE ABOUT NOW!!
But I love the illusions about the monkey. Every time I heard them, I kept thinking Goku all throughout.
I realize that I am in trouble. I seem to have a canine complex.
